For the past few months we have been helping Ava pray over the family meals. We subscribe to the parrot method, meaning we say the prayer and she repeats it. Lately we've gone from short, condensed sentences like "Thanks family, thanks food" to full sentences "Thank you for our family, thank you for the food." She was doing quite well mimicking this and for awhile now has recognized the end of the prayer coming and throws her arms out and shouts amen! Yesterday apparently she was feeling tired because all she could do was agree. Here was the prayer:
Me: Heavenly Father
Ava (nodding): yeah
Me: Thank you for this day
Ava: yeah
Me: Thank you for this food
Ava(nodding): yeah
Me: Please bless the food
Ava: yeah
Me: In the name.....
Ava: AMEN!
Apparently she was saving any energy she had for the grand finale of amen. Amen to that!
