Today

Today was busy and fun. Spent the morning working on boxcars for Ava's kindergarten party, had lunch with some friends, picked up Ava's BFF Ande and took her with us to get Ava from school (pics below), went to a pond/waterfall to see turtles, grabbed dinner and everyone passed out quickly. Rob is in South Korea right now so the girls facetimed him before bed as well.

We might be in trouble

Tonight after Ava and Charlotte had been put to bed (they share a room), Charlotte came out to the living room.

Charlie: Guys, it's time for you to do what I do, to follow my rules.  Ava says we can look at her stuffffff.

Rob and I: What stuff?

Charlie: Like her jewels and jewel boxes and stuff.  Come on guys.

Charlotte then leads Rob and I back to their bedroom passing the bathroom on the way.  While Charlotte is distracting us by showing us "see this is a hello kitty thing and here are some more of Ava's jewelsez guys and this thing and this thing," Ava sneaks quietly out from behind the bathroom door and runs like lightning to the kitchen and just as quickly returns.  I'm not sure what she was running to get that required such creative planning to distract the parents but I have a feeling that the escapades of this little dynamic duo are far from over.  Rob and I pretended to pay attention to Charlottes tour of every gadget in their bedroom while we spent most of our energy stifling laughter after realizing that we were being hoodwinked.

Love those two.

Butterflies

Every year the Kiwanis club does a butterfly exhibit at the mall here to raise money. Before you walk in they give you a q-tip with Gatorade on it to attract the butterflies. Charlotte was a little unsure at first but came around before we left. Ava loved it from the get go and GG wasn't sure what to think.

No lizard No cat

My children have been begging for a pet daily for the past 6 months to a year and they think about it all the time and ways to convince me so I was not surprised at it coming up at dinner tonight at all.

Charlotte: Mom, we can’t have a dog.
Mom: Why?
Charlotte: Because they poops and eats your food.
Mom: True.
Charlotte: But we can have a cat!
Mom: How come?
Charlotte: Because they don’t poops and they don’t eat your food.
Mom: Well cats do poop but they poop in a litter box.
Charlotte: (Sadly) Oh then we can’t have a cat.
Mom: Why not?
Charlotte: Because we don’t have a lizard box.  And we don’t have a lizard.  So we can’t have a cat.

FHE

Tonight for FHE mom conducted. Daddy was in charge of the prayer. Mom chose Alligator is my friend as the opening song. Charlotte gave a flannel board lesson (with moms help) about Jesus blessing the sick Nephites and blessing the children. Ava taught us how to make paper dogs for the activity. The closing song was Book of Mormon stories (after which Ava wanted the action for Lamanites explained - hello not PC) and Charlotte said the closing prayer.

All I want for....

It's a long way from Christmas so hopefully Ava won't have to finish that song but she did lose her first top tooth today. It was barely hanging on last night but she wouldn't let me pull it because she wanted it to stay in until she got to school Monday. Apparently if you lose a tooth at school you go to the nurse and she puts it inside a little plastic tooth container that's on a string that goes around your neck. I guess the "tooth necklace" is a coveted prize worth the risk of possibly swallowing your barely attached tooth in your sleep. Lucky for AJ, after a brief moment of panic this morning, she discovered the tooth on the bed. The other top tooth looks like it will be following shortly. Her bottom two came out last summer so this makes tooth number 3. I can't believe how much the loss of this one changes her looks. Although as you can see from the pics, it hasn't changed her silliness.
