This week Ava has been star student for first grade. She was chosen first in Kindergarten and this year. She was very excited about that. Over the weekend we made a poster with a picture from each year of her life along with word strips that describe her (helpful, smart, likes to catch snakes and bugs, sings in a choir, has two sisters, plays soccer, her middle name means July in French, has pet fish and an ant farm, is creative, likes to draw, likes to ask questions). She wanted to choose mostly pictures where she was making funny faces. Lol. She took the poster to school on Monday. Tuesday she got to bring her favorite book to share with the class (The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle), Wednesday she got to bring something from one of her favorite places to visit - she chose some NYC blocks that we have which was appropriate since that day was September 11th. Today she got to take her favorite toy to school but since the teacher said nothing too big she couldn't take the giant tiger that is her real favorite so she chose a Santa doll she sleeps with every night and a picture of the tiger. Tomorrow is the best day because all of her classmates write something nice about Ava and she brings it home in a book. We sure love our star student!
